Testing technologies for measuring tactile properties

Haptic Contact Temperature

The haptic touch temperature is closely related to the perceived quality. When touching a material surface, we humans have an expectation of the temperature we feel.

If the haptic feedback does not correspond to the expectation, because the button of a stereo system, for example, is not made of steel but of coated plastic, then a negative cognitive dissonance occurs.

Haptic Descriptors

The TouchFeel-Box makes it possible – within the scope of quality assurance of materials – to check the tactile properties of the surface of an object.

The touch feeling can be broken down into different impressions and assigned to haptic descriptors. The relevance of these haptic descriptors has been determined by numerous studies.
