Target Markets

  • Automotive
  • Utility vehicles
  • Motorcycle

Benefits

No distortion of measurement results due to superimposition of stationary background noise.

Properties of OCIAN:

  • Detection and evaluation of transient noise components at up to 4 different microphone positions
  • Consideration of stationary background noise
  • Determination of the degree of interference by evaluating the perception and frequency of transient interference noise
  • Parallel recording of time signals for subjective cross comparison
  • Combined test cycles to evaluate the acoustic quality at different excitation states
  • Illustrating the results on a grading scale from 1 to 10
  • Notch function for suppressing external noises, which enables the use in production environments
  • Available as an offline analysis tool based on recorded WAVE audio files
  • Easy and reliable operation

Applications:

  • Objective evaluation of the acoustic quality of components and full products
  • Included in noise test specification such as BMW PR311.2 and TP JLR 00.187
  • Sample testing during series production in production environments for quality assurance

For customers from the automotive industry, the additional module OCIAN [Objective Classification of Instationary Annoying Noises]for the evaluation of transient noise has been developed within ZoundLab.

This patented method enables the objective evaluation of transient background noises that audibly emerge from a superimposed stationary background noise for example the driving noise in a car, which are perceived as disturbing and reduce the perceived quality of a product.

The evaluation is carried out by recognition and classification of the transient squeak, rattling and creaking noises [Squeak and Rattle] in relation to the instantaneous level of the background noise.

Conclusion:

With OCIAN, impulsive background noises on vehicle components and complete vehicles can easily, reliably and qualitatively be detected.
